Our Mission: Nurturing the Whole Child with Heart, Purpose & Joy

At Valued Kids, we’re more than just a childcare center — we’re a family. Our mission is to provide high-quality, educationally supportive care that empowers children in Lewis County to grow into confident, capable, and compassionate individuals.
We believe children learn best through hands-on discovery, purposeful play, and meaningful relationships. Our learning environment is rich with opportunities to build language, literacy, math, motor, and social-emotional skills — all wrapped in love and joyful curiosity.
In our family-oriented classrooms, teachers model strong values like honesty, kindness, respect, and self-worth. We celebrate each child’s strengths and foster resilience through positive choices and peer-to-peer problem-solving — even practicing the powerful question:
“What do we need, how can we get that, and are we friends again?”
We create consistent routines that nurture security, structure, and exploration. With gentle guidance, redirection, open-ended questions, and child-centered choices, our team helps children develop the life skills they need to thrive — today and for years to come.
At Valued Kids, your child will always be seen, heard, and supported as they discover the world around them — and their place in it.
How Valued Kids Was Born: A Story of Faith, Family, and a Whole Lot of Miracles
In one of the most difficult seasons of our lives, everything felt uncertain.
Our home had flooded.
My husband lost his job.
Finances were tight.
Our marriage was under strain, and our four sons could feel the tension that had settled into our home.
Then one day, I drove past a small building with a “For Lease” sign — it had once been a childcare center. Something stirred in me, a quiet whisper:
"You should call."
I didn’t. Not the first day. Not the second.
But on the third day, my car stalled right in front of that building.
It was as if God Himself was saying, “Not someday — now.”
So, I called the number on the sign.
The man who owned the building — who lived over an hour away — just “happened” to be two blocks away at the grocery store.
My husband Steve — also “just so happened” to be home.
Together, we all met at the building, only a half mile from our home.
We walked through, hearts open but stunned.
Then something incredible happened:
The owner handed us the keys and said, "I believe this is meant to be yours."

He didn’t know us. He barely knew our names.
But we knew — God was at work.
That night, Steve and I prayed. We felt a deep peace, a strong calling.
Not only were we meant to open this center, but we both clearly knew the name:
Valued Kids.
Because every child deserves to feel deeply valued and learn the values that will guide them for life.
From there, miracle after miracle unfolded — including a long-awaited insurance settlement that finally came through. And on August 11, 2011, Valued Kids opened its doors.
This isn’t just a business. It’s a calling. It’s our mission.
And it’s proof that even in the middle of chaos, God writes beautiful beginnings.
Our story took a powerful turn on January 1st, 2024, when a pipe break led to a full building remodel. What could have been a setback became a fresh beginning—proof that God’s hand has been guiding every step.
Now with updated classrooms and renewed purpose, we provide a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment where children grow through hands-on learning, meaningful relationships, and guided discovery. Our programs support the whole child—socially, emotionally, physically, and academically—while encouraging kindness, confidence, and a lifelong love for learning.
